Ingredients
1 cup chopped Palak
1 cup chopped coriander
3-4 green chillies
Lemon sized tamarind
Rock salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
2 tsps mustard seeds
1 red chilli split into two
A pinch of asafetida
Method
- In a mixer grinder, add the palak, coriander, green chillies, tamarind and rock salt.
- Blend to a fine paste. Use water as required. Palak has sufficient water content, so adjust the water accordingly.
- In a small pan, heat oil.
- Add mustard seeds. Turn off the gas once the mustard seeds splutter.
- Add red chillies and asafetida and stir once.
- Add this tempering to the chutney.
Serve yummy palak coriander chutney with dosas or idlis
Notes
- Use stems of palak and corainder too. Do not discard them.
- Wash the palak and corainder well before trasfering to the mixer grinder.
- You may saute or blanch the palak if required. This will alter the taste of the chutney.
