Ingredients
2 lemon sized tamarind
Enough water to soak the tamarind
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds / jeera
1 tsp asefotida
5-6 dry chillies
A few curry leaves
Salt to taste
Method
- Soak the tamarind in water and set aside for 10 minutes.
- Extract the tamarind water and discard the pulp.
- In a frying pan, heat oil.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry chillies and asefotida.
- Once the mustard seeds and cumin seeds crackle, add curry leaves and turn off the gas.
- Add the tempering to the extracted tamarind water and mix well.
Tamarind pachi gojju is ready to be served.
Notes- It is one the best accompaniments for Ven Pongal.
- You may add finely chopped onion to this gojju.
