Capsicum Bhaath

Ingredients

3 tbsps oil
2 tsps mustard seeds
1 tbsp urad dhal
1 red chilli split
2 cups chopped green capsicum
1 cup chopped tomato
3 tbsps bhaath powder
1 tsp turmeric
Salt to taste
2 cups cooked rice

Method

  1. In a wide bowl, spread cooked rice and allow to cool.
  2. In a kadai, heat oil and add the mustard seeds. Wait till they splutter.
  3. Add the urad dhal and red chillies. Let the urad dhal turn golden.
  4. Toss the chopped capsicum and cook them on a high flame stirring often.
  5. Lower the flame slightly and add the tomatoes in.
  6. Once the tomatoes are cooked, add salt and turmeric and mix well.
  7. Turn off the flame and add the bhaath powder.
  8. Mix well and transfer the contents to the bowl containing the cooled rice.

  9. Use your hands to mix the capsicum mixture with the rice thoroughly. Make sure there are no rice lumps.
Yummy and hot capsicum bhaath is ready to eat.
