Dressing up right is such a confidence booster. Pregnancy undoubtedly
brings a big waistline for a few months. But is that all? Not so for
many of us. Most of us gain a lot of weight and flab in unwanted
areas. Staying stylish with your growing bump is a challenge. Read my
article to continue being your fashionable-self and to also dress
yourself up neatly with your growing bump.
Dresses
One-piece clothing is very stylish and is always in vogue! Choose
dresses from your wardrobe to suit your current body size. If you are
the kind that doesn't hesitate showing off your bump, you wouldn't even
have to shop for new dresses. Some of us gain a lot of weight during
pregnancy and if you are not comfortable with knee-length dresses or
minis, maxis and midis are a big time savior during pregnancy!
Kurtis and Leggings
The elasticity of leggings is a boon during pregnancy. They are so
comfortable around your waist that you can spend the entire day in
them. Leggings are available in almost all shades. Shop for a few
common colors like black, white and off-white to suit most of your Kurtis.
Kurtas or tunics are a legging's best friend. Anarkalis are best
during pregnancy. For many pregnant women, hips seems to grow in hand
with the growing bump. An anarkali is perfect for such women. It
portrays a neat look of you and it is very comfortable too.
For kurtas with a slit, I recommend you put away the straight cut
kurtas for a few months. The problem with straight cut kurtas is that
the slit is expanded by the bump and the elegance of the
kurta-legging and your own self is totally lost. You definitely do
not want to look awkward any day. Wear A-line kurtas instead. They
are trendy and they also cover up the sides pretty well inspite of
the big bump.
Skirts
Skirts are a trendy pick in all seasons around the globe. Since
comfort matters a lot during pregnancy, it is best to avoid skirts
with buckles, zips and tight elastics. I chose to wrap-around during
my pregnancy. They were very comfortable and also cost effective.
Since you will be able to adjust the size in a wrap-around, they wont
be too tight around your waist and you will not hamper the growing fetus. Spend a few bucks on wrap-around and you will be able to
wear them during and after your pregnancy too.
Jeans
Most of us are comfortable in jeans. Your regular jeans might not
seem as comfortable as before during your pregnancy. You might want
to switch to stretchable jeans for a couple of months. Stretchable
jeans are very cozy. They will be your best friends during winters
and during snowfall.
Befriend t-shirts that are plush. V-shaped t-shirts are a fantastic
combination to a pair of jeans. Wear a scarf if you must. The look is
very chic and appealing too.
Some general tips for clothing during pregnancy
- Shop for clothing that will suit you throughout or at least maximum pregnancy period and also after delivery.
- Do not buy clothes are one or two sizes more than your regular size. Although they might seem to fit you around your waist, this will only make you look larger than you actually are. You might want to consider maternity wear instead.
- Wear comfortable inner wear failing which you will feel restless all day even in the most snug clothing.
- Initial months of pregnancy does not need a major wardrobe change as you will fit into almost all your regular dresses.
Use appropriate accessories to compliment your clothing. Carry
yourself well wherever you go in spite of the big waistline. When you
look alluring, you are at your confident best. And, that is what
matters at the end of it all! Cheers to womanhood! Wishing you a
fashionable pregnancy!
